Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BLS CPR certification required or provided at orientation.
  • Completion of STNA/CNA or PCT training or nursing student with clinical rotation.
  • Experience in direct patient care or similar role preferred.

Some of the tasks they do areCheck things like temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.Collect samples like urine.Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.Help with patient walks, hygiene, weighing patients, and vitalsThe PCT works under the nurse's supervision, which means the nurse makes sure they do things safely and correctly. Sometimes, the PCT may also be called a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk and assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly, enabling patients to receive the best care possible. Bathing, turning/positioning, toiletingCurrently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements. *Other Skills:You can handle many things at once, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.You know how to use a computer.You're good at organizing things.You can talk and listen well to others.Bonus points: You've worked in a hospital before.
