Job summary

Seaside Health System in Zachary, LA is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support the nursing staff and provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a safe therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with admissions and rounds, transporting patients, and following facility policies.

CPR and CPI certifications are required; prior mental health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. CPR and CPI certifications required.
• Mental Health field experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all departments and follow written/verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct care duties to assist patients in maintaining dignity and safety.
• Take patients’ vital signs as directed and document findings.
• Assist nursing staff with other patient care duties as directed.
• Assist with admission of new patients and orient them to facility procedures.
• Provide patient transportation and escort as directed.
