Job summary

Virtua Health is hiring for a patient care role to support activities of daily living under RN/LPN supervision. You will assist with routine tasks, monitor vitals, and help ensure patient comfort in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include documenting care activities, communicating changes to the health team, and supporting patient and family education. Evening/night shifts and per diem employment provide flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a PCT course, RN fundamentals course, CNA program, or equivalent direct patient care experience.
• BLS certification; phlebotomy training may be required for ED positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, mobility).
• Monitor vitals and perform point-of-care testing as directed by RN/LPN.
• Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team and document appropriately.
• Reinforce patient and family education on care needs and safety.

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse/and or LPN, assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Position Responsibilities

• Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
• Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
• Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately.
• May perform phlebotomy and ECG's, if certified.
• Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately.
• Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice.
• Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
• Participates in the performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Required Education

High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED) required. Must have successfully completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

BLS certification. Phlebotomy training/education is required for the Emergency Department positions. Enhances skills through ongoing education and training. Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies.

Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
