Purpose and Scope

Supports the mission, core values, and customer service standards of Home Dialysis Services & Dialysis Care Center, LLC (HDS/DCC). Adheres to all policies, procedures, compliance programs, and regulatory requirements. The In Center Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician provides exceptional care to patients under RN supervision in the assigned center.

Primary Duties / Activities
  1. Set up, operate, and dismantle dialysis machines; perform chemical disinfection and record keeping.
  2. Monitor dialysis machines and water systems, respond to alarms, and ensure patient safety.
  3. Record vital signs before, during, and after treatment; document on Hemodialysis Treatment Record.
  4. Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment; report anomalies to RN.
  5. Perform vascular access cannulation or catheter care as permitted by law.
  6. Obtain homeostasis, apply dressings, and monitor patient status.
  7. Follow all facility policies, participate in staff meetings, and collect patient data.
  8. Review lab results, collect blood samples, and prepare specimens for shipment.
  9. Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to RN immediately.
  10. Communicate emergencies and complications to RN for further instructions.
  11. Maintain safety and infection control standards.
  12. Educate patients and families about End Stage Renal Disease.
  13. Manage inventory supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
Customer Service
  • Support HDS/DCC's customer service values and standards.
  • Provide outstanding service to staff, patients, and vendors.
  • Maintain effective communication and resolve customer issues promptly.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current CCHT, Bonent, or state-required certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
Experience
  • Proficiency in PC use; experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Qualifications
  • Preferred: 1+ years as a certified Patient Care Technician.
  • Self-motivated, independent, yet collaborative team player.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and data entry skills.
  • Flexible, with high integrity and patient-focused attitude.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Includes extensive walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and patient transfers. Must pass the Isahara’s Color Blindness Test. Work involves exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases. Work hours vary, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with travel between patient locations. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
