Premier Health Partners is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Health Unit Coordinator for the Neuroscience ICU at Miami Valley Hospital. The role involves assisting nurses and doctors with patient care, vitals, and daily activities during a 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift (36 hours/week).

Requires a high school diploma or GED and a BLS CPR certificate. Prior STNA/CNA or PCT experience is valued, with orientation offering CPR training if needed. Prior hospital experience is a bonus.

Formación

• Successful completion of one of the following: STNA/CNA training, Patient Care Technician/Assistant training, or direct patient care experience in the last five years.

Responsabilidades

• Assist nurses and physicians with patient care tasks under supervision, including vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiration) and daily activities.
• Support patient movement, hygiene, and meal assistance.
• Collect samples (e.g., urine) as directed and report changes in patient condition to a nurse.
• Assist with paperwork and unit coordination to keep the hospital running smoothly as a Health Unit Coordinator.

Position: Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator

Department: Neuroscience ICU

Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours a week, 72 hours per pay period

Facility: Miami Valley Hospital

A Patient Care Technician, or PCT, works with nurses and doctors to care for patients. Some of the tasks they do are

• Check things like temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
• Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
• Collect samples like urine.
• Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
• Help with patient walks, hygiene, weighing patients, vitals

The PCT works under the supervision of the nurse, which means the nurse makes sure they are doing things safely and correctly. PCT’s are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and get healthy again!

Education: You'll need a high school diploma or GED.

Training: You'll need to get a BLS CPR certificate. If you don’t already have it, they can teach you how to do CPR at your orientation, too (so you don't need to do it beforehand).

Experience: Successful completion of one of the following:

• Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
• Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting
• Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.

*Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements. *
