Job summary

UT Health Pittsburg is seeking a PRN Medical Surgical Patient Care Tech in Pittsburg, TX to support patient care under nursing supervision, assist with daily activities, and promote comfort and safety. Responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs, collecting specimens, transporting patients, aiding with ADLs, assisting with procedures, and documenting progress to keep the care team informed.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification, or near completion of nursing program.
Active Texas CNA/PCT certification.
Cross-training across multiple hospital services is preferred.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
Measure and record patients' intake and output and assist with range of motion; draw blood.
Assist in providing treatments and procedures (feeding tube, catheter, suture removal, splinting, ECGs).
Coordinate daily activities for assigned unit including clerical support and participate in performance improvement activities.
