It also received "high performing" designations for eight common procedure and condition areas, including: Heart Failure; Heart Attack; Kidney Failure; Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma; Prostate Cancer Surgery; Stroke; Hip Fracture; and Diabetes. The "High Performing" status is awarded by U.S. News & World Report to hospitals that perform significantly better than the national average in these specialties, based on factors like patient outcomes.
In 2024, GW Hospital received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – Myocardial Infarction (MI) Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award.
U.S. News and World Report also named GW Hospital as a High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) in 2024. This indicates a high standard of care for patients with uncomplicated pregnancies, representing the highest accolade for U.S. News' Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
To qualify as a Best Regional Hospital, a hospital must outperform peers in key areas such as risk-adjusted survival, patient experience, nursing care, and successful patient discharge. These rankings help patients and doctors make informed healthcare choices.
