Job summary

Baptist Health in Paducah, KY is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the ER on the third shift. You will assist nurses, provide basic care, monitor patients, and support unit operations in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, ECGs, routine vital signs, and documentation in the EMR. This role requires a high school diploma and BLS within 3 months, with preferred prior healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: completion of an approved aide training program.
• Preferred: phlebotomy/point-of-care testing experience.
• One year of healthcare patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient hygiene and comfort.
• Record routine vital signs and patient data.
• Document patient care in EMR within scope of practice.
• Perform phlebotomy and various lab collections as needed.
• Place appropriate monitoring equipment on patients.
• Perform 12-lead ECG.
• Coordinate patient transport as needed.

Summary Job Description: Patient Care Tech - ER Full Time, Third Shift Provides general nursing care assistance to patients, with consideration for the unique needs of pediatric and geriatric populations as appropriate. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Patient Care Technicians perform duties under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and in addition performs general stocking duties as needed to support unit operations.

Preferred Requirements

• Successful completion of an Approved Aide Training Program is preferred
• Previous phlebotomy/point of care testing is preferred
• One year of previous experience in a healthcare setting providing patient care
