Job summary

INTEGRIS Health in Enid, OK seeks a Day Shift, full-time Patient Care Tech in the Step-Down ICU. You will perform delegated direct patient care activities under RN supervision, with population-specific competencies and adherence to safety goals.

Key tasks include personal patient care (mouth care, beds, baths), safety promotion, catheter care when needed, and aiding with ambulation and transport of medications. Must have current BLS or complete within 90 days and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs personal patient care tasks (mouth care, beds, baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving, bedpan/urinal care).
• Assists with patient safety (ID bands, fall protocol, restraints, positioning, sleep environment, incident reporting).
• Performs urinary catheter care, enemas, sitz baths, compresses, ambulation assistance.
• May retrieve and transport medications.

Join our team as a day shift, fulltime, Patient Care Tech, in the Step-Down ICU at INTEGRIS Health Hospital, in Enid, OK.

Required Qualifications:

• Current BLS certification or completion within 90 days.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Department specific competencies will be completed in the applicable department during the orientation process.

Required education or experience must include one of the following options:

• Successful completion of a recognized nursing assistant course or successful completion of an accredited nursing program, Nursing Fundamentals or Introduction into Nursing course with either skills lab or clinical rotation included. (Verification is required of the course and lab or clinical via transcript or official notice from the accredited nursing program)
• Enroll in a CNA training program within 45 days and complete within 90 days of hire.
• 3 months employed in an INTEGRIS patient care area with training and observation for nursing assistant duties, as certified by the clinical nurse manager or the clinical director
• 12 months of nursing assistant experience within an acute care facility, nursing home, home care setting, or long-term care facility
• Prior hospital corpsman medical training in the military

Responsibilities:

The Patient Care Tech performs delegated direct patient care activities to an assigned group of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

The Patient Care Tech responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs personal patient care tasks, such as mouth care, making beds, giving baths, perineal care, hair care, shaving patients, and emptying bedpans or urinals
• Assists with patient safety issues such as presence of identification arm band, adherence to patient fall protocol and use of restraints, positioning of patients, promotion of an environment for rest and sleep, reporting of incidents/injury occurrences
• Performs treatments which may include urinary catheter care, enema administration, preparation of sitz baths, applying compresses, and assisting with patient ambulation
• May retrieve and transport medications
