UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks a Patient Care Technician I to join our team in Marlborough, MA. The position provides direct patient care under RN supervision, including monitoring patient condition, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe environment in a fast-paced ER setting.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and current BLS. English proficiency, medical terminology knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level, 800 hours and 6 months experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Medical Terminology and computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support collaboration and patient service.
• Must have proven problem-solving abilities and stay calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsabilités

• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assists in creating a safe environment and uses de-escalation techniques; assists with restraints when required.

Hiring Range: $16.88 - $28.01 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Sunday through Saturday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.

1. Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level, work a minimum of 800 hours and at least 6 months as a PCT I. or 6 months of prior inpatient/outpatient direct patient care experience.
2. Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
3. Medical Terminology.
4. Computer skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
6. Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
7. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.
