Summary:
  • Assists nurses in the delivery of nursing care through participation in the nursing process. Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, their families, guests, and representatives of other organizations as well as fellow employees, volunteers, and medical staff in support of the Medical Center's mission to provide consistent quality health care services in a professional, caring, and responsive environment. Will demonstrate responsibility for individual performance and efficient utilization of products, supplies, and equipment. Will utilize time to ensure the timely completion of duties and promote financial viability through provision of services at a reasonable cost.
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills specific to a patient care technician in CCU (e.g., ADLs, patient hygiene, vital signs, obtaining weights, emptying and documenting intake and output, blood sugar checks, patient positioning, lifting and turning patients, ambulation).
  • Performs transports as requested (patients, medications, supplies, specimens).
  • Performs and records nursing care activities, such as changes in patient condition, behavior, and unusual incidents, as delegated by the registered nurse.
  • Follows hospital and department policies, including equipment use and safety protocols.
  • Assists in emergencies and code situations per protocols.
  • Supports the Vision and Mission of The Medical Center at Princeton and the Nursing Department philosophy.
  • Provides assistance with EKGs, tube feedings, A-lines, and wound care in urgent cases.
  • Reports and records changes in patient conditions and incidents.
  • Maintains customer service standards and promotes patient satisfaction.
  • Answers call bells promptly and courteously, relays complaints to nursing staff.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Adheres to patient safety and quality standards, participates in quality assurance activities, and maintains competency through in-services.
  • Cleans equipment, stocks supplies, and reports equipment issues.
  • Assists with admission/discharge procedures, including documentation and transfer arrangements.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA standards.
  • Participates in organizational activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Credentials:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • BLS/CPR certification
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant/Health Aid preferred; or current enrollment in LPN/RN program with successful completion of Nursing I.
