Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Complex Medicine 6A2 unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, support licensed nurses, and help maintain a safe, clean, and patient-centered environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and a FL DOH Certified Nursing Assistant license; nursing students in ASN/BSN programs may qualify. This is a full-time, on-site day shift (7am–7pm, 3x12h).

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant license from FL DOH.
• Nursing students must be actively enrolled in an ASN or BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care assistance, including support with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety, and comfort measures.
• Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities according to established clinical protocols; observe patient condition and report changes to licensed staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to patient care activities.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and environmental cleanliness standards.
• Respond to emergency situations and follow escalation procedures.

Description

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and patient-centered care by assisting with basic clinical and supportive care needs in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The Patient Care Technician practices in alignment with organizational values, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

• Provide direct patient care assistance, including support with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety, and comfort measures.
• Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities according to established clinical protocols. Observe patient condition and promptly report changes or concerns to licensed nursing staff.
