The Patient Care Tech performs delegated direct patient care activities for an assigned group of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on patient contact level.

The Patient Care Tech's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The role reports to an assigned leader. Mental health staff must be capable of assisting with physical restraints using the Behavior Management Technique System. Additional physical or respiratory requirements may apply; consult Risk Management or Employee Health for details.
Potential exposures include infections, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Standard precautions must be followed. PACU staff may be exposed to X-ray procedures and low levels of anesthetic gases.
