Job Description - Patient Care Tech 2 - Float PRN (7457-12700)

Position: Patient Care Tech 2 - Float PRN

Description: Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities, including POC Testing, EKGs, Phlebotomy, as needed. Performs IV starts and urinary Foley catheter insertions according to competency guidelines. Floats to all assigned units.

Reports to: ACNO

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent or higher (e.g., Associate's, Bachelor's degree). State Certified Nurse Aide certification is acceptable without a high school diploma. Patient Care Technician education is preferred.

Required Skills:

• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in stressful environments and take appropriate actions.
• Computer proficiency.

Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) must be obtained within 30 days if not current upon hire.

Licenses: Preferred: Tennessee Certified Nurse Aide or EMT licensure.

Minimum Work Experience: 1 year as a certified nurse tech or EMT.
