Job summary

Sentara Health in Woodbridge, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for a full-time day shift. You will provide direct patient care under a nurse's supervision, assist with admissions and discharges, and uphold patient safety standards while observing patients’ conditions and reporting changes.

The role requires a high school diploma and one of several certifications (CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent). Prior PCT experience is a plus; clinical program students may qualify.

Qualifications

• Must have a HS Diploma and one of the listed certifications.
• Active enrollment in clinical program acceptable if has completed at least one semester.
• Previous PCT or Nursing Assistant experience within last three years is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a nurse.

Patient Care Technician - Full-Time - Day Shift

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education

Certification/Licensure

Must have a HS Diploma and one of the following:

• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)
• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
