Job summary

Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a Night Shift Patient Care Tech to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Record oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assist in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN and assist with diet changes as needed.
• Assist department with administrative tasks and answer patient call bells; relay messages as needed.
