You help ensure patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while keeping operations running smoothly.Duties and Responsibilities:Patient Care & SupportAssist nursing staff with the transfer of patients from gurneys to post-op recovery chairs and via wheelchair upon dischargeAssist with patient dietary needs and retrieve belongings as needed or as directed by nursing staffAssist in taking patient vitals and reporting them to nursing staffAct in a respectful manner toward patients, families, and co-workers at all timesClinical & Room PreparationPrepare for the next day’s schedule by stocking areas as needed or as directedAssist in disinfecting, cleaning, and preparing rooms for incoming patientsStock linen, remove soiled linen, and replace with clean suppliesClean assigned areas and remove trashSupplies & Inventory ManagementAssist with inventory control and stocking of supplies; support cost containment effortsCommunication & CoordinationAnswer phones professionally and courteously; communicate information to appropriate personnel and/or family membersUpdate Patient Location Board as neededTransport lab specimens and blood to Intermountain HealthCare lab or pathologyTeamwork & CollaborationAssist visitors, staff, and physicians with a strong focus on guest relationsAct as a resource for other team membersAssist in the orientation of new personnel, students, and approved programsAttend and participate in in-service programs, communication groups, and staff meetingsWork in a spirit of teamwork and trust; maintain professional boundariesSafety, Compliance & QualityAdhere to all infection control policies, including OSHA guidelines and proper PPE/sharps handlingParticipate in Quality Management initiativesPerform effectively in emergenciesDemonstrate appropriate dress according to policy at all timesOrganization & FlexibilityPrioritize responsibilities to support optimal patient care and efficient resource useDemonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the Surgery Center and clinical unitsOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
