Hillcrest Hospital's Observation Unit provides care for adult patients who require expedited evaluation to determine the appropriate inpatient or outpatient intervention. Rapid, focused assessments are designed to maximize patient outcomes and expectations. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), you will help with daily living activities, bedside assistance and education under the guidance of an RN. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with the nursing team and Stroke Program Coordinator, who directly provides expertise nursing guidance at the bedside. Your role can make a lasting impression on the patients you encounter.
**A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:30PM - 7:00AM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as checking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, coordinating patient transfers/transport, point of care testing, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
+ Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
+ Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) before or during new hire period
+ Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
+ Extensive standing and walking
+ Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
+ Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
