Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor to support 24/7 patient care operations in acute care. This role collaborates with the nurse manager to ensure safe, high-quality care and an exceptional patient/family experience.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN with Virginia RN licensure, with 2+ years of nursing experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory role. MSN is preferred, and oncology/hospital experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • MSN preferred.
  • RN license in Virginia in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Hospital experience and oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of one or more clinical areas with 24/7 accountability.
  • Supervises nursing staff to ensure patient safety and high-quality outcomes.
  • Assists in development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates payroll and purchasing processes.
  • Serves as resource and mentor to team members; supports staff education, orientation and precepting.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and development of staff to build a reliable team.

Job Description

The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services for acute care shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team. Utilizes effective communication/ interpersonal skills and is able to adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.

Education
  • BSN required

  • MSN preferred.

Certification/Licensure
