Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to support daily living, clinical and safety needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with personal care, document care, collect specimens, perform vital signs, EKGs and phlebotomy, and help maintain a safe, clean patient environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or Equivalent and HEARTSAVER certification from the American Heart Association; strong communication, confidentiality, and teamwork are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• HEARTSAVER certification from American Heart Association required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance is essential.
• Ability to read, write and understand verbal or written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living, clinical and safety needs under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Document and report care given to patients.
• Collect specimens as directed by the registered nurse.
• Perform vital signs, I&O, EKGs, blood glucose testing and phlebotomy.
• Record and report abnormal results to the RN.
• Maintain skin integrity and prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries.
• Collaborate with the RN and serve as a preceptor for PCTs.
• Set up equipment for bedside procedures and assist with equipment setup.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient care environment and participate in rounds.
