Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Partner for the Evening Shift (11am–11pm) at the Emergency Department. This part-time role supports a care delivery team with direct patient care, observation, and timely communication with RNs.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or LVHN program completion plus 6 months of patient care experience, or similar recent coursework; strong teamwork and basic computer skills are required. CPR/BLS readiness is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required or LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course completed.
• Six months to 1 year of direct patient care experience or completion of LVHN course.
• Ability to follow directions and provide accurate reports; maintain unit competencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care using a patient/family centered approach under RN supervision.
• Communicates findings and changes to the RN; responds promptly to call lights and requests.
• Partners with the team to support unit and hospital goals; participates in orientation as needed.
• Performs duties and uses technology to support care delivery; conducts rounds as assigned.
• Maintains equipment QC and supports safety and quality initiatives.

Provides other support services, dictated by patient needs, as a care delivery team member. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. \*Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
