Join Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, OH as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant on the Stepdown unit. You will work nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, rotating weekends and holidays, delivering patient care under the supervision of an RN using state-of-the-art technology.

The role provides an opportunity to gain acute care experience in a Cardinal cardiology-focused unit with room for education advancement and skill development through Cleveland Clinic.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
Nursing students: BLS certification prior to hire.
Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience.
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Union Hospital’s Stepdown Unit provides an intermediate level of care between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and General Med/Surg Units. By joining this team as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients in this unit. Here, you will have the opportunity to get acute care experience as well as work with cardiology patients. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting.

A caregiver in this position works nights from7:00PM – 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High School Diploma or GED

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)

Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
