Mercy Hospital's ICU is a state-of-the-art, family-focused unit equipped with advanced critical care technology and a multidisciplinary team. Caregivers in this unit provide critical care for patients with life-threatening conditions or injuries, requiring vigilant monitoring and interventions such as intubation, TTM, CRRT, bronchoscopy, ICP monitoring, organ donation, and post-operative care.

This position works night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, personal care, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, external monitoring, and Foley catheter management.
• Report any abnormal findings or changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist in maintaining clean and orderly patient rooms.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• For nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possession of BLS certification, or ability to obtain it during the onboarding period.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Full-body mobility to move and lift patients, manual dexterity, and good eye-hand coordination; extensive standing and walking.
• Physical exertion includes occasionally lifting 20-50 pounds and frequently 10-25 pounds.
• Physical demands exceed those of Light Work.
