Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator in Denver, CO. The role involves greeting and registering patients, processing check-ins/outs, collecting payments, and managing medical records. You will answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate with the Internal Medicine team in a fast-paced clinic.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts 7am–5pm MST. Travel to other clinics may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 1+ years of face-to-face and/or telephonic customer service experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and manage wait time.
  • Complete check-in/out tasks including insurance verification and pre-authorizations.
  • Collect co-payments and manage daily deposits.
  • Process walk-in patients and schedule appointments.
  • Answer phones and direct questions; take messages.
  • Manage medical records and ensure documentation is filed.
  • Maintain relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Patient Care Coordinator

greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner, as well as instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. The receptionist receives cash payments from patients, issues receipts and posts cash payment data.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7am-5pm MST. Supervisor will determine the schedule upon hire.

Location:

4500 E. 9th Ave. Suite 330, Denver, CO. May need to travel to other clinics for support, depending on business need.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
  • Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
  • Manages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
  • Processes walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments
  • Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
  • Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
  • Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years face-to-face and/or telephonic customer service experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
  • 1+ years of related healthcare experience, including scheduling
  • 1+ years of experience handling and triaging of telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to handle cash and to count money
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
