Vitruvian Health is seeking an ACC Specialist to provide clerical support for a nursing unit, handle receptionist duties, transcribe physicians’ orders, and coordinate communications with other departments.

The role serves as the secretary to the nursing staff, with a preference for an LPN or CHU and experience as a unit secretary, medical secretary, or nursing assistant. High school graduation required; strong typing and medical terminology skills preferred.

• LPN or Certified Health Unit Coordinator is preferred but not required.
• Unit Secretary, LPN, Medical Secretary or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides general clerical support to a specific nursing unit including receptionist duties; transcription and processing of physicians’ orders; and coordination of unit communications with other hospital departments. The ACC Specialist is the secretary to the nursing staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High school graduate or certified equivalent.
• Licensure: LPN or Certified Health Unit Coordinator is preferred but not required.
• Experience: Unit Secretary, LPN, Medical Secretary or Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Skills: Basic typing and medical terminology preferred.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in an ACC and typical acute health care setting with pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who may be experiencing a wide range of medical and/or surgical problems. Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires a moderate amount of sitting at a CRT. Ability to concentrate on details at a CRT or written material including physicians’ orders in the midst of other activities and other interruptions. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
