Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking aPatient Care Associate (PCA) to join a fast-paced Surgical & Orthopedic Unit. Under RN/LPN supervision, you will assist in patient care, record vital signs, help with meals, hygiene and mobility, and perform clerical tasks.

Training paths include a 175-hour program for new hires and a BLS requirement within 1 month. Advance within our career ladder from PCA to PCT with additional duties in phlebotomy, enteral feedings, wound care and IV/Foley removal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC certification, enrollment in a healthcare career program, or current Mercy co-worker preferred.
• No prior experience required – we will train you!
• BLS Certification: Required within 1 month of hire
• Competencies: Completed within 3 months of hire

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic medical record
• Assist patients with meals, hygiene, toileting, ambulation, and transport
• Provide clerical support as needed
• Phlebotomy and blood cultures
• Enteral feedings
• Wound care
• IV/Foley removal
• Tracheostomy care and suctioning
