Job description

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is seeking a Patient Care Associate to join our Clinical Services team for a full-time 37.5-hour work week. This position will be based at our Queensbury, NY health center.

We are a team of trusted healthcare providers, educators, and advocates committed to advancing equity and improving health outcomes in communities facing systemic barriers to quality, innovative sexual and reproductive health services—including birth control, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, HIV testing and prevention, transgender hormone therapy, wellness exams, crisis counseling, and financial counseling. PPGNY also provides compassionate, nonjudgmental abortion services.

Picture yourself here: As a Patient Care Associate, you will be responsible for patient intake, front desk duties, obtaining complete medical history, and providing education on human sexuality, family planning, abortion, colposcopy, LEEP, and general health education, as applicable.

What a Patient Care Associate Does:
  • Support front desk with check-ins, scheduling, patient inquiries, etc.
  • Review patient health history for completeness and record findings. Alert APC regarding critical information.
  • Document in the electronic medical record using correct templates and forms.
  • Promote center operations, patient service, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to professionalism, wait time standards, and client complaint procedures.
  • Assess patient flow to minimize wait times.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new staff.
  • Ensure charge capture and financial reporting by accurate documentation.
  • Facilitate access to interpreter services for communication barriers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide health education and care related to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Provide accurate, patient-centered, non-judgmental education and obtain informed consent.
  • Perform laboratory tests, complete requisitions, and package labs for transport.
  • Handle clinic opening/closing duties, cleaning, restocking, and report issues.
  • Follow lab and quality assurance protocols, use PPE, and infection control precautions.
  • Assist in abortion services, including counseling and room assistance.
  • Attend monthly didactics and incorporate new information into care.
  • Maintain clinical skills and participate in competency checks and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Commitment to PPGNY’s mission on bodily autonomy, health equity, and justice
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
  • Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and Saturdays
  • Interest in racial equity issues and commitment to racial justice

$21.74 per hour
