Patient Care Associate - (Med/Surg/General Surgery) - Full Time Days

Job Description

Responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic care to acutely ill patients, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and performing EKGs and Venipuncture as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Requirement:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • PCA/PCT diploma with 6 months to 1 year of recent healthcare experience OR
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification OR
  • PCA/PCT diploma with National Health Career Association certification OR
  • Enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completed Nursing Fundamentals coursework OR
  • Evidence of completion of Nursing Fundamentals coursework OR
  • Completed Nursing Assistant training program OR
  • PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide, or CMA experience

Preferred:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association

Note: Effective January 2019, certifications for BLS, ACLS, and PALS must be granted through the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements (varies by date):

From 9/12/2019 to 9/20/2021:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification at hire or within 6 months
  • Phlebotomy/blood drawing experience preferred but will train
  • One of the following:
  • PCA/PCT diploma with recent healthcare experience OR
  • CNA certification OR
  • PCA/PCT diploma with NCHA certification OR
  • EMT certification OR
  • Enrolled in nursing school with completed Fundamentals coursework OR
  • Evidence of Fundamentals coursework OR
  • Completed Nursing Assistant training OR
  • 5-7 years of direct patient care hospital experience

Prior to 9/12/2019:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification at hire or within 6 months
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred but will train
  • One of the following:
  • PCA/PCT diploma with recent healthcare experience OR
  • CNA certification OR
  • PCA/PCT diploma with NCHA certification OR
  • EMT certification
