Overview

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) functions as an assistant to the Registered Nurse, performing routine procedures under supervision. The PCA provides nursing support to help achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and the nursing vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice, committed to patient advocacy and innovative care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Licensed EMT or Paramedic; or
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with high school diploma or equivalent, with one (1) year of patient care experience in a clinical setting preferred; or
  • Nursing student enrolled in an approved program for preparing professional nurses or licensed practical nurses, upon successful completion of didactic and clinical coursework; or
  • Current employees who have completed an approved nursing program and are awaiting NCLEX testing (up to 90 days post-graduation); or
  • Current employees who have completed an approved nursing program and have not passed the NCLEX (up to 6 months post-initial authorization); or
  • Junior and Senior High School Students in a state-approved CNA training program with instructor recommendation.
• Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for business purposes.
• Licensure/Certification: CNA certification required unless currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a nursing program.
