Expected Starting Salary Range: 16.89 - 20.06

DEPARTMENT: Division of Patient Services

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Director

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: All members of the intradisciplinary healthcare team

TITLES SUPERVISED: N/A

TOTAL NUMBER OF FTEs DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPERVISED: 0

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist the professional staff with one or multiple patients as assigned in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care activities for the division of Patient Services of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children, and adolescents.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan of Care: Provide approved care of assigned patients and assist in implementation of interventions under supervision of RN. Supervise and assist patients with activities of daily living. Supervise developmentally appropriate activities. Offer assistance to co-workers after completion of own duties. Use crisis control techniques and assist in de-escalation of patients and visitors. Assist with patient transport as requested. May assist with 1 on 1 patient observation as needed.
  2. Communication: Demonstrate the Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and co-workers. Report present status or changes in patient condition on an ongoing basis and in change of shift summary. Complete timely documentation of information in the patient medical record. Seek information and guidance when needed. Discuss concerns of work situation with Director or designee.
  3. Environment: Ensure that within the division, all areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures. Adhere to safety procedures appropriate to children's ages and development levels.
  4. Administrative Support: Respond to communication system/patient alarms and execute with a sense of urgency. Answer the telephone in accordance with CCHMC telephone etiquette. Assemble charts, order patient supplies, and stock clerical supplies. May assist in the orientation and training of new employees.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required: High school diploma or equivalent AND NLN or CCNE accredited nursing program student. At least 1 year of related experience. Completion of medical/surgical or equivalent clinical rotation OR Listed on Ohio STNA registry OR Ohio CNA; If CNA is in another state, must receive reciprocity within 180 days of hire OR Listed on Ohio Emergency Medical Services Registry.
