Job summary

MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Assistant in the Physical Rehabilitation department. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living under supervision, supporting unit activities to ensure patient safety and quality care on the rehab unit in Long Beach, CA.

Qualified candidates may have healthcare experience and CNAs with relevant years of acute or SNF/sub-acute setting; a high school diploma and CPR/BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• CNAs with 3 years in acute care or 5 years in SNF/sub-acute, or nursing students after first semester.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care activities under supervision per competency checklist.
• Recognize and report changing patient care needs to the RN.
• Document findings and maintain privacy in the patient’s medical record.
• Provide emotional and physical comfort to patients and maintain a safe environment; manage department equipment.

Shift: Days (12hr)

Pay Range*: $23.73/hr - $26.44/hr

$1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Under direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing activities of daily living for patients and generally assist with the unit activities that support patient care in the Rehab department at MemorialCare Long BeachMedical Center. The Patient Care Assistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment and contributes to the health and safety of patients.

• Under the supervision of licensed personnel, performs patient care activities as identified on Patient Care Assistant competency checklist.
• Recognizes and reports changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
• Documents findings and maintains privacy in patient’s medical record in compliance with unit specific standards and systems.
• Provides emotional and physical comfort to patients and provides a safe environment for patients. Responsible for maintenance of the department equipment, reporting and follow-up of equipment in need of repairs

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications

Qualifications/Work Experience:

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years or experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting orNursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester of the nursing program.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Basic computer knowledge preferred
• A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification isrequired
