Patient Care Assistant/PCT/CNA (PRN/Casual Night Shift)

Position Overview

This role involves performing advanced indirect and selected direct patient care duties in support of the nursing process, under the supervision of an RN. The position also includes clerical functions and requires knowledge of growth and development principles relevant to various life cycles.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide competent care to patients, demonstrating necessary skills and knowledge.
2. Deliver appropriate indirect and direct patient care as directed by a physician or RN, using critical thinking to respond to abnormal findings, maintaining equipment, and performing tasks such as vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and monitoring intake/output.
3. Assist with patient needs including call bell responses, meal preparation and feeding, bathing, mobility, transportation within the facility, and performing treatments as directed. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and perform data entry and monitoring duties as assigned.
4. Ensure safe patient care following policies, standards, and within budgetary constraints, managing time and supplies effectively.

Other Job Functions

• Support professional growth through mandatory meetings, continuing education, and skills competency. Serve as a preceptor or mentor to less experienced staff.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• At least 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital as a Nursing Assistant or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program (preferred in Oklahoma).
• Ability to understand written instructions, perform basic math, and demonstrate skills relevant to assigned procedures.
• Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.
• Knowledge of PPE protocols and universal precautions.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
