Job summary

Visiting Angels Amarillo is seeking a compassionate Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support clients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes across the Panhandle area, including Amarillo and surrounding towns.

The PCA will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, prepare meals, maintain a clean, safe environment, administer medications, and engage clients in activities to promote well‑being, while collaborating closely with a dedicated healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Experience in home health or hospice care.
• Experience with disabilities or developmental disorders.
• First aid and CPR knowledge.
• HIPAA privacy understanding.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Monitor vital signs and observe health changes.
• Prepare meals and plan according to dietary needs.
• Maintain clean, safe living spaces.
• Administer prescribed medications per care plans.
• Engage clients in social activities for well-being.
• Assist transfers using Hoyer lifts when needed.
• Document care and communicate with health professionals.

Visiting Angels Amarillo is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Assistant - PCA to provide exceptional support and care to our clients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, and dementia. This role requires a blend of personal care skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Our office in Amarillo provides caregivers for the Panhandle area including Amarillo, Claude, Hereford, Dumas, Borger, Fritch, Canyon, Pampa , and many others.

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Provide patient care by monitoring vital signs and observing changes in health or behavior.
• Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary restrictions.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
• Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
• Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for transferring clients safely.
• Document care provided and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding any concerns or changes in client status.
  

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Experience

• Home health or hospice care experience.
• Working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
• Familiarity with patient monitoring and vital sign assessment.
• Experience in memory care or Alzheimer's care settings.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for client support.
