Job summary

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support Med/Surg and ICU teams, delivering hands-on care and maintaining a safe, clean patient environment.

You'll assist with daily living activities, record vitals, support transfers with lifts, and follow infection control practices. Preferred training includes EKG/telemetry and phlebotomy; CNA/CMA/LVN backgrounds are welcome for advancement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA program completion or CMA certification or LVN/RN program (one year) or 1+ year healthcare experience required.
• Phlebotomy and EKG certifications preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, mobility, meals).
• Take and document vital signs, weights, and intake/output.
• Perform blood glucose checks (Accuchecks).
• Support safe transfers and ambulation with lifts/transfer equipment as needed.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
• Follow infection control practices and patient safety procedures.
