Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to join its pediatric care team. You will provide direct patient care, assist with hygiene, nutrition and comfort, and support the care team under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes compassionate pediatric care, proper PPE use and participation in discharge activities within a multi-disciplinary setting across the Shriners network.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification is required.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, ambulation, comfort and rest.
• Orients patient and family to care areas and supports comfort in surroundings.
• Performs delegated nursing aid tasks and assists caregiver with daily care and oral hygiene.
• Takes part in discharge processes under RN supervision.
• Maintains supply levels and PPE readiness based on patient acuity and age.
• Assists others when assigned tasks are completed.
• Provides wound and skin care under RN direction, as appropriate.
• Transports specimens to laboratories as requested.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, ambulation, comfort and rest.


• Orients the patient and family to the patient care areas and assists them to feel comfortable with their surroundings.


• Provides delegated nursing care activities and assists the caregiver as appropriate in daily care, oral hygiene, weights, I&O's.


• Takes part in the discharge process under the direction of the RN.


• Keeps unit and work areas stocked appropriate to the number, acuity and age of patients currently present including PPE.


• Seeks opportunities to assist others when assigned work is complete.


• Provides wound and skin care under the direction of the RN, as appropriate for assigned unit.


• Transports specimens to laboratories as requested.


• Picks up blood products as requisitioned and requested by Shift Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED


• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)


• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital setting experience


• One year of pediatric experience

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
