Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support patients with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and assist with routine tasks in the 75 Francis Street location. The role requires collaboration with licensed staff and use of electronic medical records.

This onsite night-shift position offers a sign-on bonus of $750 for eligible new employees and a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• BLS certification preferred
• MA/Nursing Assistant certification preferred
• Experience in patient care preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs, weights/heights, intakes/outputs.
• Complete documentation in the medical record.
• Interact with patients and families effectively.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, toilet use, and feeding.
• Turn and reposition patients; assist moving to wheelchair.
• Report health concerns to nurses.

Job Summary

A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions.

Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions-Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.

• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Experience Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Strong patient/customer service skills. - Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. - Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
