The Opportunity: Patient Care Assistant - The Center for Perioperative Care

The Center for Perioperative Care (CPC) is a 33-bed unit same-day elective surgery center. The CPC also cares for a small population of psychiatry patients receiving ECT treatments.

It is a fast-paced unit with approximately 120 patients per day coming through the unit for elective surgery and about 60 - 70 patients who recover and go home after surgery.

Schedule: 40 hours | (4) 10-hour shifts | 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday | No weekends, No holidays

Sign-on bonus: $750.00 available

Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
  1. Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  2. Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  3. Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  4. Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  5. Assists with turning and repositioning patients in bed and assists with transfers between bed and wheelchair.
  6. Listens to health concerns and reports them to nurses.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Licenses and Credentials: BLS Certification preferred; Certified Medical Assistant, EMT-Basic, or Nursing Assistant credentials preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years in patient or elder care preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to follow instructions, knowledge of medical terminology, strong customer service, ability to lift up to 35 pounds, proficient with electronic medical records.
