The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, supporting and complementing nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The PCA performs designated skills within those functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and interpret information relevant to the patient's age-specific needs. The PCA communicates data reflecting the patient's status and delegated tasks/functions. The role requires flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for at least 90 days from the start date. BLS competency must be maintained.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA), or at least 6 months of healthcare experience within the last year.
