Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a part-time Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff across direct and indirect patient care tasks. The role requires 18+ years old, with 12 college credits or a high school diploma with Nursing Assistant training, and BLS certification.

You will adapt to dynamic patient care settings under RN supervision. We offer opportunities to grow within Mayo Clinic, with your schedule including 12-hour shifts, day/night rotation, and every 3rd weekend.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association or American Red Cross; if needed, certification will be included during orientation.

The skills and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) align closely with those of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT), making this a great opportunity for those with CNA experience.

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
