Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains a current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, ensuring activities do not distract from primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current Certification in Patient Care required (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
  3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current (preferred).
  4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  5. Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician (preferred).
  6. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire (preferred).
  7. Current EKG certification upon hire (preferred).
  8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  9. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office (preferred).

Facility-specific requirements (may vary by facility):

  1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.
Compensation and Benefits

Mercy Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.00 to $26.68, depending on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
