The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains a current certification in patient care and is responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to all patients, and helping maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, ensuring activities do not distract from primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Current Certification in Patient Care required (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current (preferred).
4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
5. Six months of previous experience as Monitor Technician (preferred).
6. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire (preferred).
7. Current EKG certification upon hire (preferred).
8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
9. Minimum six months of experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office (preferred).
Facility Specific Requirements (may include):
1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.
Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and other voluntary benefits. The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01, with the exact starting salary contingent upon skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
