This position at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital involves functioning as a novice to competent healthcare provider, demonstrating basic communication and delegated nursing assistant tasks for a diverse patient population under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include hourly patient rounding, recording data per policy, reporting observations, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, and nutrition, aligned with Houston Methodist ICARE values.

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision, document care, and respond to patient needs.

• Report patient observations and conditions, ensure privacy and safety, and conduct hourly rounding.
• Participate in shift hand-offs and safety initiatives to prevent adverse events.

• Assist with staffing needs, utilize resources efficiently, and seek self-development opportunities.
• Engage in performance improvement projects and shared governance activities.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED, homeschool verification, or post-secondary completion).
• Complete PCA externship, internship, six months of direct care, or enrolled in nursing with clinical rotation.

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS (AHA) and CNA licensure (for Skilled Nursing/Rehab departments).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrate competency in job skills, effective communication, and basic ADL assistance.

Additional Requirements

• Uniform: Scrubs; Other department-approved attire.
• On-call: Not required.
• Travel: Not required within or outside Houston Metropolitan area.
