Texas Children’s in Houston seeks a Patient Care Assistant to perform routine and specialized patient care under RN supervision. You’ll provide developmentally appropriate, family-centered care and support a safe, positive patient experience.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, hygiene, and collaboration with RNs. Respiratory fit testing is required; prior CNA/MA training or BSN rotation is valued. This role is on-site in a hospital setting.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of nursing assistant, medical assistant, or similar clinical program required.
• BSN enrollment with one clinical rotation completed at time of hire required.
• One year of direct patient care experience required.

• Obtain and document vital signs, measurements, intake/output; report abnormal findings to RN.
• Respond to monitor alarms and communicate abnormal values to RN.
• Provide basic hygiene, comfort measures, and activities of daily living.
• Collaborate with RNs to prioritize workload based on patient and family needs.
• Collect and label laboratory specimens and perform bedside testing with quality-control activities.
• Prepare patient rooms for admissions with age-appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Provide input to RN regarding patient responses and care plans.
• Transport medications per guidelines.
• Perform unit-specific and clerical duties, including use of computer, intercom, and EKG-monitor systems.
• Maintain patient and family confidentiality and communicate effectively with care team.
• Participate in required training, unit goals, and performance-improvement initiatives.

As Patient Care Assistant, you'll perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents vital signs, body measurements, intake and output, and physiologic values, reporting abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse
• Responds appropriately to continuous physiologic monitor alarms and communicates abnormal values to the Registered Nurse
• Provides basic hygiene, comfort measures, activities of daily living, and other delegated patient care tasks
• Collaborates with Registered Nurses to prioritize workload based on patient and family needs
• Collects and labels laboratory specimens and performs bedside testing, including quality-control activities
• Prepares patient rooms for admissions with age-appropriate supplies and equipment
• Provides input to the Registered Nurse regarding patient responses to care and assists with ongoing care-plan updates
• Transports medications, excluding controlled substances, while following established medication-security guidelines
• Performs unit-specific and clerical duties, including use of computer, telephone, intercom, and EKG-monitor systems, as assigned
• Maintains patient and family confidentiality and communicates effectively with patients, families, and health care team members
• Participates in required training, professional development, unit goals, and performance-improvement initiatives

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a formal nursing assistant, medical assistant, or similar clinical education program required, or
• Current enrollment in a BSN program with one clinical rotation completed at time of hire required, or
• One year of direct patient care experience required
