Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support direct and indirect patient care under licensed staff, augmenting nursing care while ensuring safety and patient comfort.

This non-exempt, part-time role requires 18+ years of age, completion of 12 college credits (or Nursing Assistant training) and completion of Basic Life Support. Shift involves 12-hour day/night rotation with 36 hours per pay period, every 3rd weekend and two holidays per year.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.

Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
