Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a PCA III to enhance the patient experience through comfort, safety, and culturally sensitive care. All direct care is supervised by an RN in accordance with Ohio guidelines.

The role requires strong clinical skills, leadership in communication, and commitment to safety on the unit. Responsibilities include performing delegated clinical tasks, mentoring staff, coordinating patient workloads with leadership, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in patient care or related healthcare setting.
• Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical tasks as delegated by the RN, including EKGs, phlebotomy, ostomy care, and collecting urine samples.
• Lead communication and collaboration on the unit, mentor staff and support onboarding.
• Ensure patient and unit safety, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide patient comfort and hygiene while exemplifying best practices for care.
• Orient patients and families and communicate unit updates to the team.

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) III enhances the patient experience by ensuring comfort, safety, and culturally sensitive care in partnership with patients, families, and healthcare providers. All direct patient care is supervised and delegated by a Registered Nurse per Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines. PCA III independently completes tasks, demonstrates critical thinking, and escalates concerns as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Perform clinical tasks as delegated by the RN, including EKGs, phlebotomy, ostomy care, and obtaining urine specimens from Foley catheters. Maintain patient confidentiality and act as a clinical expert on the unit.
• Leadership & Accountability Lead communication, foster collaboration, and proactively solve problems. Mentor and precept new staff, support onboarding, and participate in unit councils, committees, and improvement initiatives. Manage scheduling and patient workloads in partnership with leadership.
• Environment and Safety Ensure patient and unit safety, identify and address safety hazards, and implement solutions.
• Comfort Provide patient comfort and hygiene, exemplify world-class patient experience, and model best practices for staff.
• Communication Orient patients and families, communicate unit and network updates, and lead process changes. Apply emotional intelligence in all interactions.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years of Experience Required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and EMR systems preferred
