Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care within the department. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living. They provide basic nursing care to all patients and help maintain a safe environment under the supervision of an RN, ensuring activities do not distract from primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current Certification in Patient Care (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
  3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate (preferred to maintain current).
  4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate (required to maintain current).
  5. Six months of previous experience as a Monitor Technician (preferred).
  6. Current Phlebotomy certification (preferred).
  7. Current EKG certification (preferred).
  8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  9. Minimum six months of experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office (preferred).

Facility Specific Requirements

  1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current as per facility requirements.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01, depending on factors such as experience, education, credentials, and licensure. The exact starting salary will be determined at the time of hire.
