Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, ensuring activities do not distract from primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.

Education, Experience, Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certification in Patient Care required (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate preferred and must be maintained.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required and must be maintained.
• Six months of previous experience as a Monitor Technician preferred.
• Current Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Current EKG certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months of experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and must be maintained per facility requirements.

The estimated total compensation for this role ranges from $18.90 to $28.01, depending on skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure. The final offer will be determined at hire.
