Ellison 10 is seeking a per diem PCA, with night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Ellison 10 is a thirty-six bed adult in-patient Cardiac Stepdown unit (SDU) which accommodates an intermediate level of cardiac care. Patients on this unit are complex cardiac and medical patients. The population includes cardiac arrhythmia patients requiring medical management, heart failure patients awaiting transplant and requiring intensive monitoring, and coronary artery disease patients.

Schedule:

  • Night shifts (7pm-7am)
  • Mandatory holiday shifts

Job Summary

Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  • Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Assists with turning and repositioning patients and transferring between bed and wheelchair.
  • Listens to health concerns and reports to nurses.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (Massachusetts) - preferred
  • Nursing Assistant (LNA) - New Hampshire - preferred

Experience

1-2 years of experience in patient or elder care preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong patient/customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Proficient in electronic medical records
