Job summary

Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for Burn Med Surg, a full-time Evening shift (3p-11:30p) with every-other weekend and holidays as required. You will perform direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, ECGs, and glucose checks, and ensure safety and comfort for patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse.
• Implements components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
• Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose checks.
• Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition.
• Incorporates the Hospital Customer Service Program into all patient care activities.

This position is full-time 40 hours per week working Evenings Flex 3p-11:30p with every-other weekend and holidays as required at Temple University Hospital.

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs. Provides comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs. Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition. Incorporates the concepts of the Hospital's Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities (i.e. confidentiality, responsiveness, caring). Accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee for all activities. Adheres to policies and procedures of the department. If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
