Job summary

Temple-Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the 7 West Cardiac Stepdown unit at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. This full-time Evening shift (3p-11:30p) includes every-other weekend and holidays as required.

You will provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision and support the plan of care addressing physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, performing ECGs, glucose checks, and ensuring safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program preferred or completion of clinical rotation in accredited nursing program.
• 1 year experience in a patient care role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse.
• Implement components of the plan of care addressing physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.
• Take and record vital signs; perform ECGs and capillary blood glucose checks.
• Monitor equipment, treatments, dressings, and report changes in patient condition.
• Uphold the Hospital Customer Service program including confidentiality and responsiveness.

This position is full-time 40 hours per week Evenings Flex 3p-11:30p with every-other weekend and holidays as required at Temple University Hospital. Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs. Provides comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living: personal care needs, nutritional and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, and capillary blood glucose needs. Observes and reports the functioning of equipment, the results of treatments, condition of dressings and any change in patient condition. Incorporates the concepts of the Hospital's Customer Service Program into all aspects of patient care activities (i.e. confidentiality, responsiveness, caring). Accountable to the Nurse Manager or designee for all activities. Adheres to policies and procedures of the department. If certification is not present at hire employee must successfully complete the onsite nursing certification program within 90 days of hire.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing program Preferred

Experience
